We spent 48 hours in Montreal and were lucky enough to experience a ton of what this city has to offer. I’ve compiled my favorites spots into a blog post for you guys to experience the city and all it has to offer. So whether you are visiting for a long weekend or only have a day or two, this travel guide to Montreal is a perfect place to start, no matter which side of town you’re in!
Where to Stay
We stayed at this Airbnb, and it was only a couple of blocks from downtown and the river. Every morning we walked to a cafe and then continued to explore the city on foot.
What to Do
Bike along the St. Lawrence River
Biking is one of those outdoor activities that Montreal truly embraces come summer time. The Lachine Canal is the quintessential Montreal bike path. Whether you go west to east, or east to west, it makes for a very scenic ride with plenty of parks along the water. We rode for about five miles west until we reached the Atwater Market.
Spend an Afternoon at Atwater Market
Whether you’re looking to spend an afternoon shopping for baked goods and produce, or eating lunch at one of the many local food vendors, Atwater Market is the place to be. We strolled through the market in a daze sampling bakery treats and juicy cherries. Not to mention the hundreds of flower arrangements that lined the vendor’s booths. We ended up eating lunch at a vegan food truck that served jackfruit and black bean burgers. They were delicious!
Explore the Botanical Gardens
The Botanical Gardens were my favorite part of Montreal. I couldn’t believe the varieties of flowers and plants that were on display. We spend half a day in those gardens and could have stayed there longer had our stomachs not been urging us to get lunch.
Where to Eat
Antidote
This cute vegan cafe makes the freshest, most flavorful dishes. They care about their ingredients, and you can taste it. Make sure to check out the jackfruit tacos.
St Viateur Bagel Shop
Breakfast under a $1? Yes, please. Montreal is known for its bagel shops and St. Viateur’s is the place to go.
LOV
I discovered Lov when searching for the best vegan restaurants in Montreal. Literally, everything we ate was out of this world and I even got a mocktail with kombucha.
