New Belgium Brewery was a “must see” on our trip. We were so excited when we got to do Asheville’s New Belgium Brewery Tour. Two of Noah’s favorite things are craft beer and biking, so it’s no surprise that he loves New Belgium. I will admit that I’m not a beer fan, but I recently discovered that I’m into sours. We decided to spend an afternoon doing a brewery tour, which was FREE. Two hours later we had had countless samples of beer, seen the in’s and out’s of working at New Belgium and gotten to know what makes their craft beer so unique.
Some Fun Facts about New Belgium
- After a year of being an employee, you get a personal bike designed by New Belgium. (which many employees ride to work)
- Employees use a slide to get from the second floor to the first, there are ping pong tables for break time, and many people get around the brewery on scooters
Touring New Belgium ended up being one of my favorite parts of our Asheville visit. I can’t recommend it enough!
On our second night in Asheville, we were looking up dinner options and decided to try Zambra for tapas. When we arrived, we realized that we couldn’t have picked a better restaurant. There was live music steps away from our candlelit dinner, and the tapas were phenomenal.
We stopped in Thirsty Monk’s for a drink after dinner. It’s very unassuming from the outside; you would never expect this place to have three stories. The top floor is an exclusive club; the main floor has the bar with a vast selection of craft beer on tap or, take the stairs down to the basement level where you’ll find the Belgian Bar.
Oh also, this brewery has a thing for stickers.
When Noah found out I had never been to an arcade, he decided to take me to The Retrocade. Located on the west side of Asheville this arcade is two stories of fun. We spent two hours playing pinball, air hockey, billiards, and so many other games.
