Whether you are planning a weekend getaway to Pensacola Beach or a quick trip to explore downtown, this guide shares everything you need to know about Pensacola Florida! I grew up in Pensacola, so this is my local guide for what to do, see, and eat in my hometown.

What to See + Do
Walk Downtown
One of downtown’s new projects is the Umbrella Sky Project.
About 300 Skittles-colored umbrellas hang over a small stretch of Intendencia Street between Palafox Place and Jefferson Street, seemingly floating over the street on rooftop cables. The Umbrella Sky Project is now part of Pensacola’s landscape for the next three months. It’s just one element of the Foo Foo Festival – a collection of festivals, exhibits, performances and art installations taking place in November.
The Umbrella Sky Project is a Portuguese endeavor that began in 2011 at an Art Festival in Agueda, Portugal. Now, the Portuguese entertainment company Sextafeira creates the Umbrella Sky Project in cities worldwide. But Pensacola is only the second U.S. city to host the Umbrella Sky Project.
Blue Wahoos Park
Has a great view of the ocean, nice to hangout and have a picnic.
Palafox Farmers Market
Open on Saturday’s. Great spot to get homemade pastries for breakfast along with produce, plants, and handmade crafts.
Pensacola Beach
Pensacola Beach is world-famous for its sugar-white sand beaches and emerald-green waters. Click here for things to do on Pensacola Beach.
Plan on boating at Pensacola beach? Check out Fort McRee, Fort Pickens, and Little Sabine Bay.
Where to Eat + Drink
Single Fin Cafe at Waterboyz.
Who knew that a surf/skate shop would also be home to a 5000ft indoor skate shop and laid back surfer style cafe? Apparently, my Dad does. He introduced us to this cool breakfast spot that we will return to again and again.
I ordered the Sunzal tacos with black beans, rice, chicken, pico de gallo, avocado, & queso fresco and dang was it delicious. I tried to make the same tacos a week later, but nothing could compare.

Fosko Coffee Barre
Yummy coffee and crepes! Get here early, it’s small so it fills up.
Perfect Plain Brewery
A cozy brewery in the middle of downtown. It also has a cocktail & garden bar in the back.
Jo Patties Seafood
My FAVORITE spot to get the fresh sushi and gelato!
Al Fresco Food Trucks
I would eat at these food trucks at least once a week when I worked in Downtown Pensacola a couple of years ago. My favorite is Z Taco. Their Palafox Bowl is to die for.
The food trucks are a great place for downtown business people to come and enjoy their lunch outside.
