I can’t believe it’s almost Christmas! I’ve got my candles burning, holiday classics on repeat, and fresh-baked goodies in the oven. I’ve also begun shopping for friends and family gifts. Over the years I’ve become more aware of my excess waste, especially during the holiday season. This year I can’t help but be more conscious about my gift ideas. I wanted to put together a sustainable holiday gift guide that will support a more mindful holiday season. These gifts will encourage the receiver to make daily sustainable choices, and be introduced to eco-friendly brands.
These gift ideas may bring about small changes but they’re a step in the right direction.
Reusable Grocery Tote Bags
One of the first items I thought to put on this guide was reusable grocery totes. I use mine every week and get a little swell of happiness every time someone asks me about them.
I have a french market bag gifted to me by my grandmother. She bought it in Europe, so it’s one of my prized possessions.
These are a few of my favorite grocery bags at the moment.
I Pledge Allegiance to the Land
This bag is screen printed with black eco-friendly ink on 100% organic cotton canvas reusable tote bag made with 100% fair wage / fair labor (Rewrap Non-Profit Organization). Not to mention it’s super cute.
French Market Bag
This basket backpack is perfect for the farmers’ market. It’s made with leather shoulder straps and double leather straps across the top to keep your fresh produce safe and secure.
Collapsible Mug
Stojo Mug
I was given a Stojo mug earlier this year, and I can’t stop using it!
The 16 oz is a perfect size, which means you can use it for coffee, beer, or anything your heart desires! It also comes with a straw for splash-proof sipping.
I shared more mugs in my Self-Care Gift Guide
Travel Bamboo Utensil Set
This bamboo utensil set has been a part of my lifestyle for over two years now. I can’t remember who showed me them, but now I go everywhere with them. Buy a couple of sets so you can keep them in your backpack, purse, or home!
I also LOVE these utensil sets! They’re sold on Etsy and come with cute zip-up pouches
Bees Wrap
Bees wrap is another great alternative to plastic wrap! I use mine to wrap up leftover fruits and veggies, along with open containers that don’t have a lid.
Stasher Bags
Stasher bags are amazing! Over the years I’ve collected different sizes and I think I have at least seven. But I still want more. They truly make you realize how much we rely on single-use bags such as ziplock. The best news is, they’re all 25% off!
Period Cup
I use the lunette period cup. If you’re on the fence about trying menstrual cups, do it! This cup has made my period way easier, more sustainable, and I couldn’t be happier with it!
Reusable Water Bottle
This might be one of the most common green gift ideas. But let’s not discredit the reusable water bottle!
While I still love my hydro flask, I also recently purchased this collapsible bottle to use while skiing. It would also be great for the gym, or anywhere else you need a water bottle but don’t have much room to carry one.
By the way, if you didn’t already know, I paint custom hydro flasks on my Etsy shop (shameless plug)! Let me know if you’re interested in having yours painted.
I hope you enjoyed my second Gift Guide! Make sure to check out my other post, The Ultimate Self-Care Gift Guide. I hope this post made you think of someone that would enjoy these sustainable gifts. Even if that someone is YOU!
